The Network

The Network was created by Practical Help using the technology of Ning Inc. and is subject to their Privacy Policy. Your use of the Network, as well as ours, is governed by the Ning Terms of Service. Over and above these documents, this page describes our policy for using and protecting the information we gather from you through The Network.

When you join the Network, you provide some information including your email address and organisation using customised profile questions. Some of this information is used by Ning to enable you to use the Network. We will also use this information:

• to send you periodic emails relating to the Charter and related events and activities
• to enable you to register online for Charter-related events

You may add information to the Network by participating in the social networking activities supported by the Network, such as forums, blogs, comments, events, etc., We will be delighted if you do. This sort of information is covered by the definition of content in the Ning terms of service. When you add content to the Network, you do so voluntarily and in accordance with the Ning terms of service relating to content.

You mind find advertisements and links to third party websites the Network. These advertisements and websites should have their own privacy policies which you should check. We do not accept any responsibility or liability for their policies whatsoever as we have no control over them.

How we protect your information

Your information is kept by Ning according to the Ning terms of service and the Ning privacy policy. In addition, we will access information you have provided for the purposes described above. When we do this, we store the information we use in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998. Only members of the Practical Help team will access your information. We will not pass on your information to anyone else.

The Data Protection Act 1998 gives you the right to access the information that we hold about you. If you request access to this information, we may may charge payment of a fee of £10 to cover our costs in meeting your request.
