LED replacements for fluorescent strip lights

We are refurbishing some labs here shortly and I would like to see LED strip lights going in. Does anyone have any experience of them, negative or positive? At present, I am being told they are not yet good enough. Is this indeed the case?

I find that it depends where you get them from. Cheap ones from ebay are cheap for a reason. Spending a bit more on better quality is worth it.
